Bell Ringing

Ringing at Twyford

We have a friendly band with a range of ages (11 to quite a bit older!) and abilities (from novices to those with many years of experience).

If you are interested in learning to ring you would be very welcome. Please contact us or just come along to see what happens.

Practice Friday, 19:30 to 21:00.

Service Sunday, 10:00 to 10:30.

We do have ringing at other times such as for wedding, extra services and occasions of national importance.

Extra ringing outside the above, such as for training purposes, will have the sound control shutters closed and we hope that the volume will be low.

Please contact us if this is not the case, we want to be good neighbours!

We are affiliated to the Sonning Deanery Branch of the Oxford Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers.

About The Bells

The tower was built in 1910 after a long campaign by the Vicar of Twyford, the Rev. R W Acworth whose long term aim was to have a peal of eight bells. The £700 needed was raised fairly quickly because the bells were dedicated on Easter Tuesday 1913.

We have 8 bells in the key of F#. The bells were cast by Mears and Stainbank at the Whitechapel Bellfoundry in London.

The inscriptions on the bells and their weights are as follows:
