Weddings

We’d love you to get married in our church. Since the law changed on 1st October 2008 it is much easier to show a connection to Ruscombe, Hurst or Twyford parish churches which entitles you to be married there. You can now get married in either church if one of the following 9 conditions applies to either you or your fiancée/fiancé.

  1. You live in the parish

  2. You are on the church electoral roll.

  3. You were baptised in the parish

  4. You were prepared for confirmation in the parish

  5. You lived at any time in the parish for at least 6 months

  6. You have habitually attended normal church services in either parish church for a period of at least 6 months

  7. One of your parents, at any time after you were born, lived in the parish for at least 6 months.

  8. One of your parents, at any time after you were born, habitually attended normal church services in either parish church for a period of at least 6 months

  9. One of your parents or grandparents was married in the parish.

If none of the above apply, it is sometimes possible to obtain a 'Special' or a 'Common' licence. For details on this contact the Vicar through the Church Office. In preparation for your wedding Banns of Marriage must be called for three Sundays running, within three months of your wedding day. This is a legal requirement of the Church of England.
