Christmas Tree Festival 2016

Christmas Tree Festival 2016

More than 3000 visitors attended this year's Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary's Church from 1st to 4th of December 2016.

Every corner of the church was crowded with around 70 trees depicting the theme of "A White Christmas" and promoting "Peace and Goodwill to all". The trees were decorated by many local organisations, businesses and schools.

The highlight of the festival was the visit by the Prime Minister, Theresa May, which was also reported in the local news.

Exhibitors and visitors also contributed food that was donated to the Reading based charity Readifood. The charity delivers around 100 emergency food parcels each week to families and individuals through the local area.

There was also some entertainment over the course of the festival, provided by the Twyford Hand Bell Ringers, the Berkshire Recorder Consort  and the Twyford 'Glee Club UK'.

The festival concluded on the Sunday with an afternoon tea and a carol service amongst the trees.
