Christmas Tree Festival 2014

After a two year break, the Christmas Tree Festival was back in 2014. Nearly 3000 visitors, more than in previous years, came to look at the 60 to 70 trees that filled St Mary's Church for four days at the beginning of December. The trees were decorated by local organisations, charities and business, with Victorian theme, to acknowledge the heritage of the church, which was built in 1847.

Exhibitor and visitors also contributed food that was donated to the Reading based charity Readifood. The charity delivers around 100 emergency food parcels each week to families and individuals through the local area.

As before there was a variety of entertainers: the Waltham St Lawrence Silver Band, Berkshire Recorder Consort, Twyford and Ruscombe Theatre Group and the magician Mark Shortland.

The festival concluded on the Sunday with an afternoon tea and a carol service amongst the trees.
